Farmers Are in Luck: Pulses Guaranteed at MSP for 4 Years! Know Easy Registration Process

Out of the total exports till March 25 of the last fiscal, basmati rice shipments stood at 59.44 lakh tonnes.

To promote the purchase of pulses, the central government has made a major decision in favor of farmers. To reduce dependence on pulse imports and encourage local farmers, the government has decided to buy pulses like tur, masoor, and urad at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Previously, this purchase was only for the Kharif season of the financial year 2024-25. Now, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that the government will continue the 100% purchase of pulses at MSP for the next 4 years, until the financial year 2028-29.

Farmers to Benefit from Tremendous Profits

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared that several schemes are being run by PM Modi to benefit farmers. As of March 25, the government has purchased 2.46 lakh metric tons of tur from 1,71,569 farmers in states such as Karnataka, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. In addition, the government has approved the purchase of 13.22 lakh metric tons of tur from Uttar Pradesh and Telangana. The purchase limit for Karnataka farmers has also been extended until May 1, 2025.

    How Farmers Can Benefit

Government agencies NCCF and NAFED are buying crops from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). If farmers wish to sell their crops at MSP, they need to register on the e-Samyukti portal. Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged farmers to take advantage of this opportunity by registering. He also appealed to the states to ensure the transparency of the crop purchasing process.

    Government’s Goal: Increasing Pulses Self-Sufficiency

In the 2025 Budget, the government announced plans to increase self-sufficiency in pulses. To boost the production of pulses, the government will continue purchasing them from farmers at MSP. Additionally, crops like mustard, lentils, and gram will be bought under the PM Asha Yojana. The Agriculture Minister has called for the cooperation of all states to help benefit the farmers.
