Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened GAIL (India) Limited, the first compressed biogas facility in Ranchi, Jharkhand, in collaboration with CEID Consultants and LSTK/EPC Contractor. The facility, with a capacity of 12,500 m³ per day, is intended to process 150 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily, yielding 5,000 kg of bio-CNG and 25 tons of fermented bio manure. The Jhir Dumping Site Mouza Jhiri in Ranchi, Jharkhand, occupies 7.86 acres on which the factory is situated. The biogas produced will be sent to neighboring CNG stations, which have the capacity to fuel more than 600 cars daily in the area. This will support the Atmanirbhar Bharat project and encourage the use of clean and environmentally friendly fuels.
The plant’s purification process uses water scrubbing technology. CEID Consultants and Engineering manages the entire process, from designing and supplying to installing, testing, and commissioning the biogas plant. The wet waste for the plant will be collected from the homes, business places and other sources within Ranchi by Ranchi municipal. The actual process of establishing the plant began in March 2021, when GAIL and the Ranchi Municipal Corporation entered into a Concession Agreement.
CEID Consultants & Engineering Pvt Ltd CEO and Founder Prince Gandhi declared completion and commission of the first compressed biogas plant for GAIL India Ltd in the country stating that the plant is a great addition to Jharkhand. The plant’s implementation will support the circular economy, strengthen local economy, enhance energy security and thus reduce India’s dependence on fossil fuel.
