In an effort to redefine air travel and minimize environmental impact, RSG has partnered with daa International, the operator of The Red Sea International Airport (RSI), and Arabian Petroleum Supply Company (APSCO), the airport’s primary fuel supplier. This collaboration marks a historic moment, as RSI becomes the first airport in Saudi Arabia to offer SAF to all operating airlines, enabling them to reduce their carbon footprint significantly.

According to international guidelines set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), SAF must be blended with conventional Jet A1 fuel. At RSI, the SAF blend consists of 35% SAF and 65% standard Jet A1, achieving a remarkable 35% reduction in carbon emissions per flight. Red Sea Global (RSG) is taking bold steps towards achieving net zero by committing its subsidiary air operator, Fly Red Sea, to exclusively use sustainable aviation fuels. Fly Red Sea, known for its seaplane transfers, charter services, and scenic tours across RSG’s destinations, will refuel its entire fleet with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Lower-Carbon Aviation Fuel (LCAF). This initiative ensures a more sustainable approach to aviation, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
This strategy aligns seamlessly with RSG’s broader sustainability vision, which includes powering all operations using solar energy. To date, RSG has installed over 400MWp of solar panels at The Red Sea, a move expected to prevent up to 600,000 tCO2eq emissions annually once fully operational.
Further reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship, RSG is also focused on enhancing natural habitats. In partnership with the National Center for Vegetation Cover and other key stakeholders, RSG aims to increase mangrove density by 50 million by 2030. This initiative will protect, restore, and enrich the ecosystems surrounding its destinations, contributing to carbon sequestration and biodiversity conservation.
Through these integrated sustainability efforts, Red Sea Global is not only leading the way in regenerative tourism but also setting new standards for environmental responsibility in the aviation and hospitality industries.

The Red Sea destination officially welcomed its first guests in 2023, marking a significant milestone with the opening of five luxury hotels. Since September 2023, The Red Sea International Airport (RSI) has been operating regular domestic flights, while international connectivity began in April 2024 with a twice-weekly route connecting The Red Sea to Dubai International Airport.
By 2030, The Red Sea is set to become a premier global destination, featuring 50 world-class resorts with up to 8,000 hotel rooms and over 1,000 exclusive residential properties spread across 22 islands and six inland sites. The expansive development will also include luxury marinas, championship golf courses, vibrant entertainment venues, and a diverse selection of dining and leisure facilities, redefining the standard for regenerative tourism.
