Ukraine is increasing its sales of frozen vegetables but sugar exports decline.

In the first seven months of 2025, the value of Ukrainian frozen vegetable exports rose to $6.1M. The exports mainly go to Germany, Israel, Belgium, Italy, Poland, France, and Romania. The export structure primarily consists of products including frozen carrots, beets, celery, lettuce, chicory, and potatoes. Meanwhile, experts forecast that due to significant weather fluctuations this year, the harvest of vegetables, fruits, and berries may decrease by 11% compared to last year. The expected harvest totals are 7.3 million tons for vegetables, 1.8 million tons for fruits and berries, and about 19.3 million tons for potatoes. In contrast, agricultural holding Astarta, Ukraine’s largest sugar producer, saw its revenue from sugar sales decline by 38% in January-June 2025, down to €79M. This downswing was caused by an 11% drop in sugar prices and a 29% reduction in sales volumes. Sugar exports accounted for 47% of revenue, down from 58% in the first half of 2024. The main export destinations included Libya, Macedonia, and Israel. Astarta’s share of Ukraine’s total sugar exports during this period was 24%.
