Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures fell on Monday on spillover weakness from corn futures, though weather concerns in China and the Black Sea helped add a floor to prices.
Ahead of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly crop progress report, analysts on average expect the USDA to rate 50% of the winter wheat crop in good to excellent condition, up from 49% a week ago. Estimates ranged from 47% to 52% good-to-excellent.
For spring wheat, grown mostly in the northern Plains, analysts on average estimated planting progress as 46% complete, up from 30% the previous week.
Russia's April exports of wheat, barley and maize (corn) are estimated at 2.3 million metric tons, up from 1.9 million tons in March 2025, the Sovecon agricultural consultancy said on Monday.
CBOT July soft red winter wheat (WN25) closed 11-3/4 cents lower at $5.31-1/4 per bushel.
K.C. July hard red winter wheat (KWN25) ended 8-1/2 cents lower at $5.32-3/4 per bushel.
Minneapolis July spring wheat (MWEN25) ended 1-1/2 cents lower at $6.09-1/2 a bushel.
