Denmark to subsidize offshore wind, green hydrogen projects

Investing.com -- Denmark is planning to offer state subsidies for offshore wind and green hydrogen projects in an effort to revive its struggling market. This comes after a failed tender and delays to vital infrastructure, which have caused a setback.

The government has decided to cancel its ongoing offshore wind tenders, with plans to launch a new one within the year. The new tender will aim for two to three gigawatts of power with more attractive terms, according to a statement from the energy ministry last Friday. The state is prepared to provide financial support and increased flexibility for bidders, although the specifics have not been detailed.

Climate and Energy Minister Lars Aagaard addressed the situation during a news briefing in Copenhagen. He stated, "We must face reality. The landscape has changed. The government wants offshore wind. Our assessment right now is that it may require our support. It’s not because we are happy about it, but because it’s necessary."
