Green Hydrogen Key to India’s Energy Leap: Hardeep Puri

India is set for a significant energy transformation through the planned production of 900 KTPA of Green Hydrogen by 2030, as announced by Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri.

This initiative is part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aiming for a total of 5 MMT production by 2030, supported by domestic manufacturing and incentives. Key players in India’s oil sector, including major Public Sector Undertakings, are integral to this effort, which seeks to reduce fossil fuel dependence and cut imports.

The initiative includes the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme, ensuring that hydrogen production is genuinely sustainable. Additionally, the government is targeting 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070, as it bolsters a new clean energy economy.
