Eni reports increased renewable fuel production for Q3

Italy-based energy company Eni on Oct. 24 released third quarter results, reporting that its Enilive business segment processed 315,000 metric tons of biobased feedstock during the three-month period, up 14% when compared the third quarter of 2024.

Enilive is a subsidiary of Eni that is focused on sustainable mobility, including the production of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The subsidiary currently operates five biorefineries, with four additional projects under development and construction.

The increase in third quarter biofuel production is primarily attributed to higher volumes processed at Enlive’s Gela and Chalmette biorefineries following maintenance activities that occurred during the third quarter of last year. The Gela biorefinery is located in Italy and the Chalmette facility is located in Louisiana.

Biobased feedstock throughputs for the first nine months of 2025 reached 881,000 metric tons, down 7% when compared to the same period of 2024. The decrease is primarily attributed to maintenance shutdowns that occurred during the first half of the year.

Eni’s biorefineries operated at approximately 85% capacity during the third quarter of this year, and at 79% during the first nine months of 2025. Capacity utilization for the third quarter of 2024 was 74%, with capacity utilization for the first nine months of last year at 85%.
