A launch ceremony was held on Friday to celebrate the first electrolyser to roll off the production line at start-up Hongze Haijin’s new 1GW factory in the city of Zhangye, Gansu province, northern China.
The machine — which Hydrogen Insight understands uses alkaline technology — is able to produce 2,500 normal cubic metres (225kg) of hydrogen per hour, according to local reports.
According to the Zhangye city government, the ¥120m ($16.5m) factory took only 14 months to complete from the start of construction, and has “an annual output of 1GW of electrolysers and 25 sets of green hydrogen electrolysis systems”, which suggests that the company is planning to
