The International Energy Agency (IEA) expects global investment in clean hydrogen to grow by 70% this year compared to 2024, according to a new report published today.
The Paris-based organisation estimates total global spending of about $7.8bn on clean hydrogen supply in 2025 — $6bn on electrolysis projects, and roughly $1.8bn on blue H2 (made from natural gas with carbon capture and storage).
This compares to a total of about $4.5bn in 2024 ($2.4bn on electrolysis and roughly $2.1bn on blue H2), which itself had been a 60% increase from 2023.
