Honeywell and Jiutai Group partner to produce 100,000 tonnes of SAF annually

New Delhi: Honeywell  announced that Inner Mongolia Jiutai Group  has selected its UOP efining technology  to produce 100,000 tons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) per year from eMethanol. . This marks Honeywell's first global commercial eFining license.

The eFining technology, which converts eMethanol into low-carbon jet fuel, is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions  by 88% compared to conventional jet fuel.

"This collaboration not only marks the first commercial license for SAF production using Honeywell's eFining technology but also showcases our commitment to the sustainable development of the global aviation industry," said William Yu, President of Honeywell China.

Cui Lianguo, Chairman of Jiutai Group, highlighted the partnership's role in the group's energy transformation and its contribution to the aviation industry's sustainability.

Honeywell’s technology will be implemented at Jiutai’s methanol-to-olefins facility, converting it into a SAF production plant leveraging local wind resources for efficient production. Honeywell's SAF technologies are currently licensed at over 50 sites globally, aiming to significantly boost SAF production capacity.
