LONGi Hydrogen Powers Central Asia’s First Large-Scale Green Hydrogen Breakthrough

The Uzbekistan Green Hydrogen Project—developed through a strategic collaboration between ACWA Power, PowerChina Huadong Engineering Corporation, and LONGi Hydrogen—has successfully begun hydrogen production, paving the way for full-scale commissioning.

As the project’s sole hydrogen production equipment supplier, LONGi Hydrogen provided four high-efficiency 1000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzers, alongside integrated systems for power supply, control, gas-liquid separation, and purification. All components were engineered and delivered in full compliance with international standards, including relevant EU directives and U.S. industrial codes. Ma Jun, President of LONGi Hydrogen, stated, “This successful commissioning marks a key milestone in our global journey and showcases China’s large-scale electrolyzer technology on the international stage. We delivered high-efficiency, low-consumption systems and collaborated closely with partners to ensure smooth integration with project requirements and local conditions.”

By the end of June, the electrolyzers had completed rigorous commissioning tests covering system energization, current ramp-up, gas purity verification, venting, and emergency shutdown protocols. Both core and auxiliary systems operated stably under full load, consistently producing high-purity hydrogen and oxygen.

A flagship of Uzbekistan’s green energy strategy, the project integrates 52 MW of wind power with hydrogen production and ammonia synthesis in a closed-loop, zero-carbon system. It is expected to produce 3,000 tons of green hydrogen annually—supporting the production of 500,000 tons of low-carbon fertilizer and reducing CO₂ emissions by 30,000 tons per year.

LONGi’s advanced electrolyzer system plays a central role in this transformation, combining high efficiency with low energy consumption to enable reliable zero-carbon hydrogen supply.

This project marks several milestones for LONGi Hydrogen:

Its first large-scale electrolyzer deployment in Central Asia

The first international operation of a 1000 Nm³/h “4-to-1” electrolyzer system

The first use of its technology in a green ammonia application abroad

These achievements highlight the technical strength and global readiness of LONGi’s green hydrogen solutions.
