NTPC Green Energy Partners With Japan’s ENEOS To Supply Green Hydrogen And Methanol

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan’s ENEOS Corporation to explore the supply of green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green methanol. The agreement was formalized during the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.

The collaboration focuses on NGEL’s upcoming Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh, spanning 1,200 acres. The facility is designed as an integrated hub for green chemical production and export, aiming to meet Japan’s rising demand for low-carbon energy while positioning India as a key supplier in the global green hydrogen value chain.

This initiative supports NTPC’s target of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 and aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which seeks to establish India as a global hub for green hydrogen production and exports. By leveraging ENEOS’s expertise in energy trading and hydrogen technologies, the partnership is expected to accelerate the development of a sustainable energy corridor between India and Japan.

Industry experts note that this collaboration marks a significant step in international clean energy cooperation, reinforcing India’s role in the global transition toward low-carbon fuels.
