The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has called for protests in villages across Khammam district from November 19 to 25 to press for relaxation of cotton procurement norms by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) and other long pending demands of farmers.
In a statement, the CPI (M) affiliated Telangana Rythu Sangham district secretary Bonthu Rambabu called upon all farmers’ and labourers’ organisations to actively participate in the protest programmes to espouse the cause of distressed farmers hit hard by recent spell of heavy rains and CCI’s “restrictions” on cotton procurement.
He said a rally-cum-demonstration will be organised in Khammam town on November 26 to protest against the Centre’s “anti-farmer” and “anti-labour” policies.
