The U.S. exported 184.67 million gallons of ethanol and 918,108 metric tons of distillers grains in May, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on July 3. Exports of both products were up when compared to the previous month.
The 184.67 million gallons of ethanol exported in May was up when compared to both the 172.23 million gallons exported the previous month and the 167.69 million gallons exported in May of last year.
The U.S. exported ethanol to nearly 40 countries in May. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports at 61.34 million gallons, followed by the Netherland at 31.9 million gallons and the U.K. at 30.91 million gallons.
The value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $408.2 million in May, up from $379.29 million in April and $375.5 million in May 2024.
Total ethanol exports for the first five months of 2025 reached 889.53 million gallons at a value of $1.92 billion, compared to 808.33 million gallons exported during the same period of 2024 at a value of $1.82 billion.
The 918,108 metric tons of distillers grains exported in May was up when compared to the 864,197 metric tons exported the previous month, but down when compared to the 986,996 metric tons exported in May 2024.
The U.S. exported distillers grains to approximately three dozen countries in May. Mexico was the top destination for U.S. distillers grains exports at 207,818 metric tons, followed by South Korea at 95,831 metric tons and Indonesia at 90,215 metric tons.
The value of U.S. distillers grains exports reached $213.49 million in May, down from $214.16 million in April and $254.14 million in May of last year.
Total distillers grains exports for the first five months of this year reached 4.5 million metric tons at a value of $1.08 billion, compared to 4.85 million metric tons exported during the same period of last year at a value of $1.34 billion.
