Waaree Energies Begins Commercial Production At India’s Largest Solar Cell Facility In Gujarat

Waaree Energies has started commercial production at its new solar cell manufacturing facility in Chikhli, Gujarat. The facility includes a 1.4 GW Monocrystalline PERC (Mono PERC) solar cell production line, marking the first phase of its commissioning. Once fully developed, the plant will have a total capacity of 5.4 GW, including 4 GW of high-efficiency TOPCon solar cells, which will be launched in the next phase.

With this facility, Waaree aims to boost domestic solar manufacturing, reduce reliance on imports, and stabilize costs amid global supply chain fluctuations. The high-efficiency solar cells produced at Chikhli will support India’s renewable energy goals and provide a steady supply of advanced solar technology for power producers and industries. The facility will serve both the domestic and international solar markets, strengthening India’s position as a key player in the global solar supply chain.

Dr. Amit Paithankar, Whole-time Director and CEO of Waaree Energies Ltd., stated that the launch of the 1.4 GW Mono PERC solar cell production line is a major step in making India self-reliant in solar manufacturing. He emphasized that this facility aligns with the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, contributing to India’s energy independence. By integrating advanced manufacturing with research-driven innovation, Waaree aims to shape the future of clean energy while driving economic growth and sustainability.

The Chikhli facility is equipped with state-of-the-art production lines, advanced automation, and strict quality control measures to ensure high efficiency and reliability. Besides technological advancements, the facility is expected to create jobs and contribute to industrial growth. With the first phase now operational, Waaree continues to lead the solar industry by delivering high-performance solar solutions, accelerating India’s transition toward a greener and more sustainable future.
