'We will not invest in any more clean hydrogen projects until we secure more offtake for our existing ones': Air Products

Air Products will not invest in any more clean hydrogen projects until more offtake has been secured for its under-construction facilities, according to the US industrial gases firm's CEO and chairman, Seifi Ghasemi.

“We will not take any final investment decision [FID] on new projects until our current facilities are loaded at least 75% or more,” he said on an analyst call for the firm’s latest results.

Today, the $1.6bn Canada Net-Zero Hydrogen Energy Complex in Edmonton, which Air Products took FID on in 2021, is the closest to this target, with 60% of its production capacity of blue H2 already committed to offtakers.
