Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated a series of measures to curb misuse and illegal diversion of extra neutral alcohol, rectified spirit, and ethanol.
State excise commissioner Nishanth Kumar and enforcement director Rahul Dev Sharma held a video conference with all the distillery officers in the state here on Friday, and the officers were instructed to keep a close tab on the distillery units to avoid any diversion of alcohol meant for industrial and potable use.
The excise commissioner directed the officers to ensure proper electronic surveillance in place by ensuring proper functioning of CCTV cameras in the premises of distilleries and to frisk the outgoing employees properly, to ensure daily stock reconciliation, to verify all containers leaving the distillery are properly sealed and locked, to conduct regular sampling of ENA to maintain quality standards, and to personally inspect the denaturing of rectified spirit and ethanol meant for industrial purposes. He also instructed the officers to visit industrial units regularly receiving alcohol to verify their records to ensure no misuse or diversion for the manufacturing of spurious liquor.
Meanwhile, the principal secretary for the excise and general administration department, Mukesh Kumar Meena, directed the officials to ensure proper coordination among the departments, to strengthen the surveillance system, and to address any lapses with regard to the movement and end-use of alcohol.
