JK Planning Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Project in Machilipatnam

JK Srivastava Hynfra unveiled plans to invest ₹35,000 crore in a large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia facility in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The project aims to produce 150 KTPA of green hydrogen and 600 KTPA of green ammonia, marking a significant step toward India’s renewable energy ambitions.

Sustainable Operations

The facility will run entirely on renewable power sources—a mix of solar, wind, battery storage, and advanced energy management systems. JKSH targets the start of operations by 2029.

Partnership with NREDCAP

JK signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh. The agreement outlines their collaboration on the green hydrogen and ammonia project.

Strategic Location Shift

JK originally planned the project for Visakhapatnam but relocated it to Krishna district. The availability of a substantial government land bank—1,86,367 acres, including 1,24,537 acres in the Machilipatnam division—prompted the move. The developing Machilipatnam port, now 50% complete and set to begin operations by end-2026, further enhances the site’s strategic appeal.

Strengthening Machilipatnam’s Industrial Profile

As reported by projectstoday.com, the development adds momentum to Machilipatnam’s transformation into a new industrial hub. This follows recent proposals from BPCL and CONCOR. With robust infrastructure and government support, the region is fast emerging as a focal point for India’s green energy economy.
