USDA: Biodiesel imports continue to fall in June

The U.S. exported 35,953.6 metric tons biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Aug. 5. Biodiesel imports were at 2,148.9 metric tons for the month.

The 35,953.6 metric tons of biodiesel exported in June was up when compared to 31,160.5 metric tons exported in May, but down when compared to the 67,622.2 metric tons exported in June 2024. 

The U.S. exported biodiesel to approximately five countries in June. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports at 28,310.6 metric tons, followed by Peru at 7,051.9 metric tons and Germany at 307.5 metric tons. 

The value of U.S. biodiesel exports reached $40.45 million in June, up from $32.4 million the previous month, but down from $87.77 million in June of last year. 

Total biodiesel exports for the first half of 2025 reached 138,981.9 metric tons at a value of $164.06 million, compared to 288,305.6 metric tons exported during the same period of 2024 at $399.25 million. 

The 2,148.9 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 and greater imported in June was down when compared to the 2,226.2 metric tons imported in May and the 99,616.5 metric tons imported in May of last year. 

The U.S. imported biodiesel from approximately five countries in June. Canada was the top source of U.S. biodiesel imports during the month at 2,096.9 metric tons, followed by Belgium-Luxembourg at 28.8 metric tons and Singapore at 16.2 metric tons. 

The value of U.S. imports fell to $1.96 million in June, down from $2.17 million in May and $133.58 million in June of last year. 

Total U.S. biodiesel imports for the first six months of this year reached 55,671.7 metric tons at a value of $48.16 million, compared to 898,949.2 metric tons imported during the same period of last year at a value of $1.25 billion.
